A Big Trophy

So we had a fencing awards dinner tonight, and I got an award for "Most Improved JV Fencer"! This basically means that I'm being seriously considered for varsity next year, even though I have added another weapon to my repertoire (I am now both foil and epee).

On another note, the dinner was long and repetitive- There were a HUGE number of awards, bad quality videos, and long winded speeches. It went about an hour overtime. However the food itself was nice and everyone was very nice and my fencing seemed to have preceded me.

Also two of my poems got accepted into Guildscript, the literary magazine at my school. I attend the writer's group every week and was very pleased when two of my pieces got in. Now I have a meeting with the advisor to edit them and talk about placement and such.

This is what I wore today- I was going for dressy but not fancy- comfort was key because of the hours spent sitting in those uncomfortable chairs.

Spring Yet?

Today was a lovely day, except that one of the skirts I wanted to get from Modcloth turned out to be sold out! Well anyway it's started to feel a bit like spring. I'm very excited for Easter, though, because of the coloured eggs and the chocolate. Bunnies are also very nice and this is why Easter is my favourite holiday. We have this very cute book at home called "The Golden Shoes" or something like that about the Easter bunny and the illustrations are amazing and so is the story.

Great-Aunt's Ring

I can't believe that it's almost April and today it's 39 degrees and a threat of snow!!

I'm so done with New Jersey weather! So, I made the day more like spring with this floral shirt and soft leather jacket. To top it all off, I added my Great Aunt's garnet ring, with a silver setting that looks a bit like lace. Pretty!

Habit Tracking RPG??

Oh gosh I'm very sorry for not updating in a while... However clothing hasn't been that interesting lately because school has been very busy for a while. Have y'all ever noticed how towards the end of the year the teachers suddenly decide that it'd be good if they piled on the work? Well. Anyway that's just a quick update and the clothing should start up again tomorrow!

On another note, I've started using this thing called HabitRPG. It's basically a site where you can track your habits so that you can live more healthily! What you have are "Habits" "Daily" "To Do" and "Rewards", which you fill in according to your day. If you do something good you earn health points and gold coins, which you cash in for your rewards! The only issue is that you need some self control, because it's easy to cheat and say you did something when you didn't. The whole game type thing has really helped me stay on task, because I hate losing! I think y'all should all go check it out, and do the little tutorial to see if it'd be good for you.

Personally I really like it.

I Really Like Suits

So I had my first pilates class today and it was really a lot of fun! I feel wonderful, energized, and so much better than I did going in. I think you all should try it!

Ruffles!

Today I was super tired... Did very poorly at my tournament. Guess I've not done too much foil recently, now that I think about it.

My outfit today was inspired by Ciel Phantomhive, a young Victorian earl in the series Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler). That show is really good! However, the books are better. They give one lots of feelings about fictional characters. Fun!

Princess

This weekend I had the pleasure of going to see the school musical- Legally Blonde! It was very good and I am very pleased. I had friends in it, so that made it better, seeing them act. However I do think that some of the cast could be very, very good one day.

One of the warmest days in a while! Yay!

The girl on my necklace is Princess Eboli, a princess in Spain in the 1500s. She was considered the most beautiful woman in the country, despite her missing eye- which was put out in a fencing practice with her brother. Sadly, she died in prison, on charges of conspiring against the crown. Interesting story, I think.

Once again it's warm- however it was raining cats and dogs today... So I decided that something swirly and cheerful would work to brighten it up a bit.

I Guess I'm Good

Today again being cold and hailing, and me having to walk to school, I covered up in a riding inspired ensemble.

And, as a pleasant surprise, I won second place in an epee tournament! My coach did not have enough people, so he just threw me in. Now, I've decided to learn epee in conjunction with foil, because of the high percentage of very good foilists on our school team- and I really want a starting spot! Our best epeeist just graduated, so for the 2013-14 season I am planning on being on the epee squad. Anyway, I've only had one epee class in my life- and I guess I just have a knack for it because I did really well! My only issue is I keep trying to hit the body and not the arm, and missing. Oh well, I'll get first next time!

Nor'easter

It's disgusting out today, very cold and windy with a nor'easter coming in. It's gross. So, I decided what better way to brighten the day than a pretty floral silk scarf?

I like the whole texture thing, so I layered a big cosy sweater under my pleather jacket, to great effect. 

Late Start

Because of testing, I get to come into school late! This makes me very happy... Missing my morning classes is very nice. Also sleeping in. Anyway, with more time than usual to get ready, I had a bit of fun.

The photos do not do this jacket justice! The colour is amazing, sort of a deep maroon type red with fading near the seams. It's very soft and moves well. I also love these shoes, they're so comfortable and the buckles are a cute touch.

Ahhh I really need a better camera, and a better picture taking location.
