Sticking Power

It's interesting how one silhouette or piece of clothing can stick with us throughout our lives. For me, those two things are Dior's New Look and the trench coat. I've always been in love with the whole 50's shape, from bathing suits to movie stars to, of course, the poodle skirt. It shows up in a lot of my clothing choices, and I pick full skirts and crisp shirts pretty much subconsciously.

Trench coats to me have always been a symbol of sophistication. Inspired by the dapper gentlemen in the 30s with their mysterious looking bowler hats and the iconic Parisian lady in her striped boater shirt and silk scarf, I am constantly on the hunt for that one coat. So far, I haven't found it. However, I've gotten pretty close with this particular trench. Though not really suited for very cold or wet weather, it's beautiful and just the right weight for springtime.
