I went with a friend to the Moth the other day. It was FANTASTIC!
If you don't know what it is, it's a radio show on NPR which also has twice a month shows in various venues around the country. The content? Stories! Each event has a theme, and people come up to the microphone (you have to tell them you want to do it first, via the internet or phonecall) and tell them! The stories are absolutely fantastic, and it's a really very wonderful experience. Also, cheap- $16 for advance tickets (where you get to sit in chairs by the stage) and $8 at the door. Beware, though- try to get there at least an hour before the doors open! The line gets very long pretty fast and they can only let a certain number of people in! Also it is generally standing-room only if you come at the door- but that doesn't really matter because you can sit on the floor; the people don't really need to be seen to enjoy the stories (hence the radio show). An added bonus: The Moth is also a not-for-profit organization, and all the stories told are true!
Here's a link to their website for more information: LINK
It's really incredibly addicting.
This is one of my favourite stories of all time- it justifies my fear of birds originally brought on by Alfred Hitchcock.
Here in New Jersey, I am trying to make my way through school alive while avoiding the curse of the sweatpants. This is my record of my trials in fashion and my efforts to remain somewhat unaffected by the horrors of public school.

Maximum Love
The return trip from Wisconsin went okay- hot, but we didn't die. So that's a good thing.
I've begun to wear maxi skirts with everything this summer, because no matter what's on top they still look really cool, put together, and they are actually some of the least stifling items I have in my wardrobe. So go out and get some!

Tin Can
This weekend we're speeding off to Madison (Wisconsin) to visit my granddad for the weekend! I'm not entirely sure what we're going to be doing, but it should be fun! These are my airplane clothes for the going trip:
I really am not at all comfortable on planes- It scares me a lot to be going up in a little tin can that very well could crash. Also I get very anxious about being on time for things, so I always have mini panic attacks in security when it's moving very slowly. I know that other people are also afraid of flying, and that makes me feel better a little.
How I avoid being entirely panicked the whole flight is that I try to work as much as possible! As long as my brain is involved in other activities I'm not as scared. This trip I'm bringing my summer math review with me, so that I can work on quadratic equations and things I don't really remember like that while we're in the air.

FIT Portfolio
My portfolio class started yesterday at FIT, and it looks like it'll be a lot of fun! We're going to be doing two projects: one based on market research and one based on an outside non-fashion inspiration. I'll be putting pictures of those up as they become more developed- I just did flats today. My teacher's a little crazy, but she's good, so it's worth it!
Today all of the escalators were out of service, so I had to trek up seven long, hot, crowded flights of stairs.
In other news, I'm on the hunt for a good camera! If any of y'all recommend one, I'd love to hear about it!

Yesterday was the 4th of July, and my town really goes all-out for that. There are various parades, contests, etc, and even the Zirbini Family Circus! They really aren't all that death defying, and the tent is like a sauna, but we all love them anyway, because they come every year and it's a part of the charm of things. At night there's a huge fireworks show, which was lovely, this year, especially because they dropped the bad pop music and we could just enjoy the explosions.
I spent the day hiding in front of the AC after going to the circus and then heading off to the pool and fireworks!

This was my makeup today, the lipstick and lipliner are both from Revlon, 070, Cherry. I really really simple makeup with strong brows and bright red lips. Mainly the bright red lips though.... I'm a bit of a sucker for old Hollywood glamour.
